Research Goals

Our research initiative aims to advance understanding of Cannabinoid Hyperemesis Syndrome through systematic collection and analysis of real-world patient experiences. Learn more about how we collect and analyze data.

Improve Diagnostic Recognition

Many CHS cases go undiagnosed or misdiagnosed for months or years. By documenting the range of symptoms and their progression, we aim to help healthcare providers recognize CHS more quickly and accurately.

Understand Recovery Patterns

We want to better understand what factors influence recovery time and success. This includes examining how different usage patterns, cessation approaches, and treatments affect outcomes.

Support the Community

The cannabis community has always been built on looking out for each other — sharing what works, warning about what doesn't, and making sure no one has to figure things out alone. That same spirit is at the heart of this project. Personal stories help others feel less alone, speed up the path to diagnosis, and generate valuable research data that benefits everyone.

Build a Global Dataset

CHS occurs worldwide, but most research has been limited to specific regions. We aim to collect data from a diverse, international population to better understand how CHS manifests across different contexts.

Research Questions

  • 1.What patterns of cannabis use are most associated with CHS development?
  • 2.How long does recovery typically take after cessation?
  • 3.What treatments are most effective for managing acute episodes?
  • 4.What factors predict relapse after initial recovery?
  • 5.How does the hot shower phenomenon vary across individuals?
  • 6.Are there demographic or genetic factors that increase CHS risk?
